Hi, I’m Gemma Chilton — a writer, editor and author based in southern Tasmania.
I’ve worked for more than a decade across journalism, publishing and content strategy, with a focus on science, travel, education, and people-focused storytelling. My writing has appeared in Australian Geographic, COSMOS, Tracks, and Australian Geographic Adventure, among others.
Now freelancing full-time, I work with publishers and businesses to craft thoughtful, engaging content — concise, well-structured and tailored to your audience, with no wasted words.
I’m also the author of Confluence, a novel about memory, grief and the secrets families carry, and Thinking About Moving to Tasmania?, a practical guide for anyone considering a life here on the island — drawn from lived experience and a few hard lessons.
I live in the Huon Valley with my partner and our three kids, where I juggle writing, client work and keeping an eye on the veggie patch.
