I was employed at Mahlab Media – a boutique content marketing agency based in Balmain, Sydney – as editor of Public Works Professional (PWPro), the bi-monthly journal of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA).
IPWEA is a professional association representing public works professionals – that is, the men and women responsible for designing, building, maintaining and managing community assets and infrastructure.
As editor, I was responsible for writing, commissioning and editing all of the magazine’s content, as well as liaising closely with design, production and sales, and the client (IPWEA). Content included industry and association news, project case studies, member profiles and in-depth feature articles of relevance to IPWEA members.
In addition to editing PWPro, I looked after general content marketing projects for IPWEA. This included two targeted monthly enewsletters, a Twitter account, and other one-off content marketing projects such as overseeing the production of a video to attract new members, and a wrap-up video and enewsletter following the IPWEA’s 2013 International Public Works Conference in Darwin – a key event on the association’s calendar.
I was also the editor of In Touch, the quarterly newsletter of Alzheimer’s Australia NSW, and contributed the following posts to the Mahlab Media content marketing blog:
“Right under your nose: how to leverage what content you already have” 22 May 14
“Don’t just talk to your customers, listen to them”
12 Feb 14
“Cooperation is key to the creation of innovative content” 5 Dec 13
